We begin our journey, perhaps, with the most famous Moscow Puppet Museum. The Museum “Doll’s House” is located in the very center of Moscow, not far from the Kitay-Gorod metro station.
The “Doll House” was opened on April 30, 1995, and for more than thirteen years it has been pleasing us with the opportunity to admire unique and stunningly beautiful dolls. “Doll House” is a completely unique museum, dolls live here not on glass shelves, but in most real doll houses! Chic doll interiors create the atmosphere of a fairy tale. The museum sounds quiet and pleasant music and it seems that we are not in the museum, but in a fabulous city, where the dolls live their usual doll life.
By the way, the Museum of Unique Dolls is located not far from the “Doll House”, which is located at 13. Pokrovka Street. This museum contains a variety of dolls of the past centuries. There are clay and wooden dolls, and wax, and rag, and straw. Not without porcelain beauties! Also in the Museum of Unique Dolls you can admire the doll interiors and items of doll life.
Here we can see the gorgeous doll houses of the best masters of Russia, England, France and Germany, hand-made doll clothes, doll hats, shoes and even miniature tableware for dolls! A truly fabulous atmosphere reigns in the Museum of Unique Dolls, and the eyes of many beautiful women in elegant dresses reign in their eyes!
Well, let’s continue our fascinating journey? I propose to go to the Petersburg Doll Museum, which is on Kamskaya Street, not far from the Vasileostrovskaya metro station. The Petersburg Puppet Museum was founded in 1999 by the Art and Production Association “Poteshny Providence”. This museum is interesting, first of all, by its diversity.
In the Petersburg Museum of Dolls you will find absolutely tiny dolls and giants more than one and a half meters tall. Here are the author’s dolls made of clay, rag dolls, paper and cardboard dolls, wire, fur, wood … What kind of dolls are there just not! There is even a hall of erotic doll in the Petersburg Museum of Dolls! Entrance to this room is allowed, of course, only for adult doll lovers.
In the St. Petersburg Museum of Dolls, even master classes for the production of designer dolls are held, where everyone can try to independently make a unique toy from this or that material. By the way, if you are a student of an art university, then you can admire the dolls in the Petersburg Museum for free. After visiting the puppet museums of Moscow and St. Petersburg, I want to continue the journey to other cities and the next time we go to foreign doll museums.
