From the life of dolls. What is OOAK?

Translated from English OOAK (One Of A Kind) – means “one of a kind.” But do not think that this concept refers to rare collection dolls, which are produced in one copy. First of all, the PLA is an art. The art of creating a new image for the doll. This new image is created for familiar dolls. In Russia, the most popular doll for OOAK of transfiguration is the Barbie doll, in the USA and Europe – the Tonner doll.
Tonner Dolls are a bit larger than the standard Barbie and it’s easier to tinker with them. In Russia, Tonners, as objects of OOAK, are not very popular due to the high cost (one doll costs about 5,000 rubles – you are unlikely to want to set creative experiments over it for that price). So what does the PLA include?
Complete change in the appearance of the doll. To do this, all the paint is erased from the puppet face with acetone, hair is removed. A new face is drawn with acrylic paints. Sometimes, in addition to cosmetics, dolls in the process of OOAK acquire fluffy cilia or even piercings! By the way, the creation of a new puppet make-up in place of the old one is called Repaint. Well, if the makeup is not completely redrawn, but only partially (for example, sponges are tinted or false eyelashes are glued), then such a doll will be called not OOAK, but a Customized Doll.
Re-flashing hair in the OOAK process is laborious and requires utmost care. As a rule, new hairs are stitched with higher quality, which gives more opportunities for different hairstyles. If you are satisfied with the factory firmware, but you want to change the color of the doll’s hair, you can’t do without a flashing, since synthetic doll hair cannot be dyed.
Having crammed a hand on redrawing doll faces and flashing hair, OOAK lovers turn to more serious actions – changing the doll’s facial features. This is a kind of plastic surgery (let’s call it, perhaps, not plastic, but “plastic”) for dolls: everything that does not suit you is corrected by a sharp blade. Thus, it is possible, for example, to remove too prominent cheekbones from some dolls or to correct the shape of the nose. The only thing to remember is the thickness of the doll head is usually not more than 3 mm, so be careful in your actions.
If you want to add the volume of any part of the doll body, be it your chest, nose or lips, artistic plastic will come to the rescue. Remember Barbie’s white-toothed smile? With the help of plastic you will be able to completely get rid of it! There are many different types of artistic plastic, they all have different properties. What plastic is suitable for a particular “operation”, you can only find out empirically. Thus, it becomes clear to us that the PLO is not just art, it is also a hobby for many people. Someone embroiders with a cross, someone breeds cacti on his windowsill, and someone creates bright unique images from ordinary factory dolls!
