Tereshchenko Dmitry, Shutterstock.com Herbalists, as the name says, were filled with fragrant herbs. If such a doll is wrinkled in hands or simply moved, a healing herbal scent will spread around the house.

These are essential oils with which medicinal herbs are so rich. Their presence explains the effect of improving the atmosphere of housing. A herbal pot, as it was also called, was hung over the infant’s cradle, allowed to play with the children, and placed at the bedside of the patient. Inhalation of essential oils contributed to the prevention of children’s colds and accelerated recovery in case of illness.

Vintage customs, as it turns out, are not so senseless. On the contrary, in our crazy technogenic age they can bring considerable benefit to the weakened organism of the inhabitants of the technopolises divorced from the nature. For the manufacture of the coastal dolls, the grass gathered on its own. The very process of making such a doll will bring a lot of benefit. It is pleasant to walk far from the gassy city streets, enjoying the freshness of the air, saturated with lively, healing aromas.

Doing something with his own hands for the home and loved ones, a person puts into the product the warmth of his soul, and this is invaluable. In the process of work, all problems go into the background and weaken their oppression. The man is relaxing. Nervous tension, due to the frantic pace of our life, decreases, and in the case of a real hobby, it disappears altogether. An embellish herbalist doll can serve for different purposes. For a restful sleep, it is filled with dry herbs of lemon balm, motherwort, chamomile and hops.

They can be placed at the head of the bed or placed under the pillow. For the prevention of colds, the dolls are filled with hunter, pine buds or shredded needles, wormwood, sage, sprigs of thuja. For the treatment of the upper respiratory tract suitable dolls filled with thyme grass, juniper twigs, garlic seeds.

The following materials will be required for making the egg dolls: – a square of white cotton fabric with a side of about 20 cm and two square flaps of fabric with a side of 10−12 cm; – red threads (by tradition, they are considered to be coastal); – red tape about 15−20 cm on the head of the doll; – a triangular flap of fabric as a headscarf; – a square of multi-colored fabric with a side of about 40 cm; – rags; – bright colored strip of cloth for the apron – 5 × 8 cm; – multicolored woolen threads; – fragrant herbs of choice. From the white square of the fabric make the head of the doll. To do this, it is folded diagonally and a rag is placed in the center. The head should be without wrinkles on the “face”. On the neck is fixed thread.

Further, on the diagonal folds of the fabric, make hands. At the ends of the diagonals, the tip of the flap is folded inward by about 2.5 cm. The edges of the fabric are twisted inward and fixed at a distance of 2 cm by a thread. Tie the doll in the belt. Just as the head was made, two breasts are made of small squares of fabric, which in turn are attached to the body. A sundress is made from a large colored square fabric. First, a handful of some grass is poured, and a rag is put on top. Next, alternate layers of grass and rags to the required amount at the discretion of the master.

The corners are bent on a rag with herbs and collect fabric along the edges to make a bag. The upper part of the doll is placed in a bag and both parts are tightly tied under the breast of the doll. After that, gently tie an apron. Then small bags of herbs from small squares of fabric are tied to the hands of the dolls. The puppet doll is ready!
